What goes around comes around is an old expression and it means, what you do to others that is not kind will come back to you, equally kind deeds will at some point mean good things will happen to you in the future… This story from Portsmouth, Ohio is an embodiment of this, or ironic?
One person who has made animals her life is Rhonda Rose, the Treasurer for Scioto County Humane Society. She found an emaciated dog, really hungry the poor thing, she rescued him and fed him up to health, and took him to the vet in between too!
Rose called the Sheriff’s department as the dog was seriously underweight, according to the vet he should be 120 pounds when he was actually around 60 pounds, who could do such a thing!
This poor doggie would have certainly died had been left like this, Rose setup in just in time to save him. You think that Rose deserved a strong pat on the back at least right?
Wrong, because in fact she was charged with petty theft and criminal trespass, really you think, yes she was!
Rose sought legal counsel and her defense attorney, John Bell tells the court that she didn’t break any laws at all, what she did was permitted under Ohio Revised Code, 1717.13…
It reads as follows:
“When, in order to protect any animal from neglect, it is necessary to take possession of it, any person may do so.”
“When an animal is impounded or confined, and continues without necessary food, water, or proper attention for more than fifteen successive hours, any person may, as often as is necessary, enter any place in which the animal is impounded or confined and supply it with necessary food, water, and attention, so long as it remains there, or, if necessary, or convenient, he may remove such animal; and he shall not be liable to an action for such entry.“
Rose his the firm belief that she absolutely did the right thing, we think so too, don’t you? The dog is now happily living on a 100-acre farm and gained about the 60 pounds that he needed to!
She has a lot of supporters, including tens of thousands of people who have signed a petition in her support.
There is great power in numbers and of course public opinion too, please take a little moment to tell us what you think in the comments, and SHARE the story!
Let’s all help her out by doing the right thing!!
