A dog being cared for by a special needs dog shelter in Missouri has gone viral due to his interesting anomaly.
The “unicorn” dog named Narwhal has a second tail growing out of his forehead, BBC reports.
The dog was found in Kansas City and recommended to Mac’s Mission, a shelter that focuses on dogs with defects in Cape Girardeau. They named the dog Narwhal after the horned whale.
“I looked at him, and I was like, ‘This is the most ridiculously adorable puppy I’ve ever seen,” Mac’s owner, Rochelle Steffen, said on Today Wednesday. “Then my million-dollar question was, ‘Did the tail wag?'”
She added that she wanted to name the dog Wipers if his tail wagged in front of his face. It didn’t, and a vet who examined the dog said that there are no bones inside the tail.
"Perfectly healthy" rescue puppy named Narwhal has a surprising physical feature that makes him extra special.

“I’ve been a veterinarian for 16 years, and I’ve never seen anything like this,” Veterinarian Brian Heuring told the morning news program. “It certainly looks just like a tail, but we did X-rays, and it’s all just skin.”
Steffen said even the vet was shocked by Narwhal’s appearance. Naturally, the pup was a huge hit online.
Heuring added that Narwhal is entirely healthy, should anyone wish to adopt him.
“I certainly do not see anything that’s causing any harm or complications,” he said. “The puppy couldn’t be any sweeter or happier. He’s really just an awesome puppy that brings awareness to the great work at Mac’s Mission.”
