Thousands of displaced Animals In California Wildfires…

Coming together in a mass effort, animal lovers in California have made a huge effort, in solidarity, to save doggies that were in danger in the fierce fires that were tearing across the state!

The deputy director of operations, Allison Cardona, for Los Angeles County Animal Care & Control, told a story where 700 animals, which also included horses, cows and at least a solitary tortoise, and many more dogs!

She said that it’s thought to be that a minimum of 10,000 more pets have been displaced with the raging fires.

Allison told the news: – “It’s hard to wrap your head around what a disaster this is, for people and animals …Anything that impacts people, impacts their animals.”

Sheila Murphy, a spokeswoman for the county’s health agency, overseeing animal control, told the media about the state of the public shelters, and even her own son he to escape the disaster with his two dogs!

Sheila said about his dogs:

“The dogs were very confused and jumping around and looking at them like, `Are we OK dad?’ “

In the next county, Ventura County, Sheila also talked about their public shelters, there were also over 50 horses, 30 dogs and 25 cats too, not only that but people had taken their chickens, rabbits and there were even 4 goats and a bird too!

A horse owner with stables has taken in 13 more horses, even though he already owns eight horses himself, and has nine more boarding at hid California, a ranch in Simi Valley.

Bill said:

“It’s been a scary time …To us, these animals are our children, our family.”

If the winds change directions the workers and ranch hands will have to move the 30 horses, using their three trailers, that can only hold a total of eight horses.

It all down to the winds, after all the fires are pushed largely by the winds…

Bill said:

“You never know when the winds shift …The winds are blowing away from us now but if they shifted, we could be vulnerable again.”

A developer from Roseville, California, called Dan Sauvageau, dashed the hour and a half north to Magalia in Butte County to help a friend evacuate a donkey, a cat, a dog and three goats too, one them was actually pregnant too!

The locals saw him driving a heavy-duty GMC truck and a 16-foot-long livestock trailer, so of course, he was drafted straight away to help the locals to be a local pet hero, to save pets!

On just the Sunday alone he managed to pick up about 14 more dogs and a cat on his rounds, he took them to a shelter near the Chico airport…

There were nine dogs that were brought from a particular place, the locals directed him to look in Rosewood Drive in Magalia, that is where he got the pack of doggies desperately needing rescue!

Dan said:

“They all came out with a big puppy smile, happy to see us and wagging their tails”

This home builder, 39-years-old was going to leave but stayed to rescue more animals, what a guy!

He said:

“I love animals, but more I hate the feeling of hopelessness and helplessness. It’s the worst feeling …Those people down there feel helpless and I want to help pull out as many (animals to safety) as I can.”

What do you think ?
