Stray cats and dogs may develop ways to become self-sufficient on the streets by picking up scraps and staying away from humans, but this doesn’t mean they don’t need our assistance from time to time.
They may get into accidents or be involved in incidents that require assistance. That’s why we have animal rescue groups like the Michigan Humane. Society who exist not just to rescue animals, but to help find them good and loving homes.
Rescuer Chris Ouwerkerk received a disturbing call. A woman claimed there was a dog with a plastic jug over her head that had taken shelter inside an abandoned home.
Ouwerkerk rushed to the home and took a look around. Peeking through the living room window, he saw the black dog clearly in need of assistance.
He tried very hard to find her, tracking her throughout the home, as she was frightened by his presence and ran off. Once he found her, he subdued her. The next task was getting the plastic jug off her head.
Because of her heavy breathing, the jug was getting tighter and tighter around her neck. He couldn’t risk cutting her or hurting himself by using scissors, so he brought her back to the shelter.
In no time, the pup proved to be a loving and happy dog once the jar was removed, even warming up to her rescuer.
