I firmly believe that there are some people in this world that can’t be effectively re-rehabilitated with the system the way it is, so what do we do? Well, that’s another burning question entirely, but this former mental health nurse must leave us wondering, what is a just punishment??
What this former nurse did to his collie is so unbelievable it’s the sort of thing that the brain can’t quite process…. He strangled his collie, butchered it with an Axe and fed it to other pet after he cooked it with a stock cube.
This happened in County Down, Northern Ireland, last December, and it was said by a doctor that he is psychopathic, but he is likely to only receive a maximum of five years in jail!
His other pet Shadow of course really didn’t know what was going on, I feel so bad for Shadow too, but seemingly he is not the only one because the former nurse doesn’t even know what happened?
The father-of-two seemingly has no memory of what happened at his home in the village of Kircubbin, his lawyer said at Downpatrick Crown Court.
O’Connor was convicted by a jury of his peers and that is that as far as this part of the case goes!
The dog was purchased from a free advertising portal called Gumtree, from a couple in Lisburn, who has since been found by the court…
The Judge said that he strangled it with a lead, skinned it butchered it, cooked it and fed it to his other dog, I can’t even get the words out hardly it so unthinkable!
The other dog thankfully has been re-homed and the judge told officers of the court to inform social services of the father’s conviction.
A medical report was referred to by Mr. Holmes that said his client lacked empathy having undergone quite a disturbing personal symptoms.
The Consultant psychiatrist Dr. Ian Bownes was tasked with examining the patient, but Mr. Holmes said that it was bizarre and that the motivation behind it was inexplicable.
Judge Piers Grant challenged the lawyer’s authority to put forward those kinds of observations, however, most of the evidence, in fact, came from O’Connor’s very own mouth, it pretty clear!
He had previous convictions and they were for the possession of an offensive weapon and also common assault, what does this tell us? I think we can work this part out ourselves.
His Lawyer blamed his marriage break-up and the death of his mother, but let’s be honest here, would that make you do what he did? It doesn’t make any sense at all!
The court was told it was an extremely serious and distressing case and we agree there I think, he most certainly had some disturbing things going on in his life, but what next?
Prosecution lawyer Laura Ivers said the punishment imposed should be the highest possible, five years imprisonment!
Sentencing will take place on Wednesday, November 29…
