An Inspiring Two Legged Pit Bull Fifty Has Crossed The Rainbow Bridge

This lovely pit bull, with only two legs, is completely loved and has inspired hundreds of thousands of people all over the globe, sadly he is no longer with us! Kelly Michael his owner, also his rescuer, shared the sad news on Facebook, together with a lovely story…

He was called Fifty, and he sadly lost two of his legs during an incident where he was shot by a policeman that considered him to be dangerous, all because he was a Pit bull. And that is simply how they came up with his name.

He was in Chicago, in a high-kill shelter, but taken in by the foster carer, Kelly Michael, but after she spent time with him she couldn’t bear to let him go again!

An inspiration and a model to other dog lovers was his legacy, working to dispel the stereotypes that the breed of pit bull embodies, that of a vicious race! He was also a huge source of inspiration for disabled dogs too, he was simply amazing!

The both of them really did raise a lot of money for nonprofit organizations, for example, Roo….

It was 22 August 2017 that Michael shared the sad news on his Facebook page, ‘Camp Fifty’, he wrote:

“Rest In Peace Fifty. I love you with every ounce of my being & I am forever grateful for all of the time we had with each other. You will always be my seahorse, my soul pup, my best bud & my whole heart. I miss you every single second of every single day.”

“Thank you to everyone who has shown Fifty & his family love & support over the years. This is just impossible for me to talk about at this time but I greatly appreciate everyone’s kindness.”

“I was prepared for a lot of work,” Michael said in a blog post at one time. “Then he jumped up on my couch, then my bed and then into my SUV. That’s when I realized: this boy had no idea he was any different than a four-legged dog.”

“Rest In Peace Fifty. I love you with every ounce of my being & I am forever grateful for all of the time we had with each other <3 You will always be my seahorse, my soul pup, my best bud & my whole heart. I miss you every single second of every single day. Thank you to everyone who has shown Fifty & his family love & support over the years. This is just impossible for me to talk about at this time but I greatly appreciate everyone’s kindness.”

“Fifty defies the unfair stereotypes of Pit bulls”

“He was shot by a human and lost two legs as a result. Yet, he is still the sweetest and most forgiving dog. The main lesson I want people to learn from Fifty is that every dog, if there is quality of life, deserves a chance at a healthy, long and happy life. No matter what.”

If you haven’t worked it out yet his name was Fifty as he had 50% legs….

We wish you to Rest in Peace, Fifty. Run until your heart is content!
