Normally when you picture garbage bags you think of smelly rubbish, inanimate objects, and food waste, but this sad case will shock most of us to the core, who could do such a thing to this dog…
An elderly dog was found discarded in a garbage bag, I feel so angry for the poor doggie, his mouth had been taped shut!
The mix breed Shepard was abandoned near the Jackie Robinson Parkway in East New York on a cold December, the 19th to be exact…
He is glad to be now starting his recovery, his lovely calm and old spirit returning to him as he gets stronger again after his ordeal.
The only reason he is here still with us in the land of the living is down to a good samaritan that alerted the Police Department about what he thought was a moving bag dumped on the side of the road.
Officers attended the scene and quickly cut the bag open, that’s when they found a very scared and weak dog, shivering, though to be between the ages of 10 and 12 years old, with his mouth taped up!
They have since called him St Vincent and he has been placed in the care of the local rescue group named the “New York Bully Crew”, they took him to the Marine Park veterinary clinic VERG for a careful check.
Bull Crew staff member, Carla Mohan, said: “He looked so defeated.”
It was obvious that he had signs of neglect, long-term neglect too, he was given antibiotics and pain leds to help him get better and feel better.
Dr. Brett Levitzke, VERG’s medical director, said:
“We’re happy to report that Saint Vincent is no longer in the ICU, he’s now walking, and he’ll be able to go home later today.”
New York Bully Crew founder Craig Fields, said:
“We thought it was a dead animal,” he said Friday. “When we first got him we just thought we were going to bring him to be euthanized humanely. I could never imagine this day, that he would leave the hospital looking like this.”
Despite everything that happened to St Vincent he was always a gentleman in every respect, what an awesome lovely dog!
“He has that kind old soul about him and all the poking and prodding we had to do, he was uncomfortable and in pain, but he never once raised his lip, never growled, never tried to snap or even looked sideways at any of the doctors and nurses”
The animal rescue group ASPCA and the New York Police Department are actively searching for his abusers, and urge anyone with information to come forward.
He has had over 100 people apply to adopt him, the rescue center says they will choose very carefully who he gets to go to as his forever home, we wish you the best St Vincent!!
