CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Rambo is still figuring out his new doggie wheelchair, still trying to figure out how to balance his weight on his front legs. His veterinarian Dr. Laura Dvorak says, “he’s only had it a couple days now and he’s doing well with it so far!”
The pit bull had to have part of both hind legs amputated, as well as part of a front paw. And he’s still got several more surgeries ahead of him. Dvorak says, “he’s definitely a survivor, his name is very fitting.”
Rambo – Bait Dog was dumped in a wooded area in Rock Hill in March, and left to die. More than one veterinarian has said the dog’s injuries indicate he was tied up and used as a bait dog for dog fighting.
You’d think that given all of the trauma Rambo – Bait Dog has suffered at the hands of humans, he would be afraid. Or angry. He is neither. His foster mom Shelly Cheshire says Rambo is social and happy to be around people and her other animals.
Despite being left die. And despite the body parts he’s lost because of the torture he was put through.
Cheshire says, “I think we could all take a lesson from Rambo. To love people and other animals the way he does, after what happened to him, everybody should take a lesson from that.”
We asked Rock Hill police if they have any updates in Rambo’s case. They tell us they increased patrols in the area right after Rambo was found, but didn’t see anything suspicious, and have since gone back to “normal” patrols of the area.
