Ripped apart, bruised, and battered from the cruel blood sport of Dog Fighting. Trinity’s body told the tragic story of long-term abuse and neglect.
Old scars and newly infected wounds on her legs and chest revealed pain of the past and present. But it didn’t define this dog’s unwavering spirit and desire to be happy again.
With the help of Best Friends Animal Society, “the only national animal welfare organization focused exclusively on ending the killing of dogs and cats in America’s shelters,” Trinity got a second chance at life.
While it might seem impossible to rebuild trust after such atrocities, this courageous canine wowed us with her resiliency and ability to find it in her heart to love again — and she does with all of her might. (And she welcomes treats, hugs and kisses, and frolicking outside as if she were a little puppy!)
Dog Fighting rescues have tugged at our heartstrings, such as the puppy used as dog-fighting bait who miraculously survived and the pit bull who is now helping save lives and standing up against breed bias and violence against animals.
Since its inception in 1984, Best Friends Animal Society has made outstanding strides in helping to reduce the number of animals killed in American shelters from 17 million per year to about 4 million.
In a shocking yet touching video, you can witness Trinity’s incredible transformation of healing, both physically and mentally. It’s amazing to see what patience, a lot of love, and rehabilitation can do for a dog in tremendous need.
Warning: Trinity was in pretty bad shape, and some of these photos might be disturbing. However, she comes up on top in the end!
